Kim Garner

Public Works, Nacogdoches, Texas

In a unique team nomination, these Heroes exhibited what it means to operate in true collaboration. Always willing to assist Nacogdoches citizens and 42 employees within the public works department, this team is the “true heartbeat” in the background of the department, according to their supervisor.

They field all calls related to four different departments within public works and provide customer service beyond the scope of their own department. For example, when a resident calls with a problem that’s not the city’s responsibility, they will call the necessary business or utility to report the issue, saving residents the hassle of trying to find the appropriate contacts. With a combined 30 years of experience with the city, this Hero team works to create a hassle-free experience in dealing with the service issues.
